Transports by Air Freight

Temperature-sensitive goods are transported by air freight with dry ice, or special air freight containers called Envirotainers.

Envirotainers are available with most airlines, or can be rented via food & beverage logistics. Depending on the type, goods with a weight from 1,000 to 5,000 kg can be loaded. Envirotainers are thermostatically operated by batteries with dry ice as the coolant. There are also battery-driven air conditioning systems available as an alternative.

Dry ice is universally utilised. Its advantage in contrast to frozen water, is that it changes from solid to gaseous aggregate state without moisture formation.
