Since June 1, 2022, Luca Cerruti has been successfully implementing a. hartrodt's new sales strategy from Hong Kong as Regional Sales Manager North East Asia. In the newly created position, he is responsible for 43 sales experts – 35 in Greater China, 8 between Japan and South Korea. "China is still one of the most important countries for a. hartrodt in terms of volumes import/export, number of shipments and container movements," he says. Therefore, the 34-year-old wants to strengthen the structure of the sales department, ensuring the presence of local sales managers in all sub-regions such as Hong Kong, South China, Central China or North China. By the end of the year, he plans to grow the regional sales team to "at least 50 people".

International career runs from Genoa to Shenzhen

As the scion of a Genoese family of shipping agents, Luca Cerruti's career path was predetermined. In addition to diplomas as ship agent & broker and for international freight forwarding, he also holds a Master of Business Administration. After completing his training and briefly working for a non-vessel operating common carrier in Genoa, he joined a. hartrodt China Holdings in the fast-growing Shenzhen city. After more than five years with a freight forwarder in Hong Kong, he was attracted back to a. hartrodt.

Introduce Trade Lane Managers in the sales department

"Customers need more specialists," believes the Regional Sales Manager. Therefore, he wants to introduce new positions within the sales department, "for example, Trade Lane Managers in charge of our core lanes, such as Northern Europe and South East Asia, who can support our local sales force and our existing customers". In addition, improved data quality will greatly support a. hartrodt's growth strategy: "This year, every a. hartrodt office will run the Customer Relationship Management software CargoWise One". This is crucial, he says, because "it will ensure a faster and smoother action in order to assist our customers on a global level".

Cerruti wants to introduce new services to sell, such as sea freight LCL services from the Mediterranean via Hong Kong to Japan, Taiwan and the Philippines. In parallel, he is planning more air freight exports via the Chinese Hubs Hong Kong and Shanghai to Southeast Asia by the end of 2023.
