Germany is the number one equestrian nation, with over a million animals kept in Germany. In line with this, a. hartrodt has built up the Equestrian Sport & Equipment division since January of this year. The transport and consulting services are tailor-made for capital goods such as horse boxes, box equipment or obstacles as well as animal feed and clothing. "There is no other forwarding company with this specialization," emphasizes Henrik Dargel, Business Development Manager Equestrian Sport & Equipment at a. hartrodt in Hanover.

Networking at horse shows and trade fairs

Dargel was formerly not only active as a dressage and jumping rider himself. The Management Assistant for Freight Forwarding is also very well networked in equestrian sports. In order to meet customers and make contacts, he visits all important equestrian tournaments in Germany. Examples are the "Concours Hippique International Officiel" (CHIO) in Aachen or the "Concours Complet International" (CCI) in Luhmuhlen near Luneburg. Dargel's compulsory programme also includes "Equitana", the world's largest equestrian show held every two years in Essen, or "Spoga Horse" in Cologne.

Lots of export business to the USA

Equipment for equestrian sports is transported by all modes of transport. "Customers use everything, including partial and full truck loads or courier express and parcel services," reports Dargel. On the export side, the shipments go to countries such as the USA. According to the expert, equipment for the construction of riding arenas, for example, is in high demand especially in the "equestrian Mecca" Wellington in the state of Florida. If the customer does not need the equipment immediately, it can be stored by a. hartrodt in Miami.

a. hartrodt imports equestrian clothing mainly from China/Taiwan and India. Operationally, the Equestrian Sport & Equipment division is supported by the experts for sea and air freight at a. hartrodt.

Dargel is at the trade fair "Pferd & Jagd" from 5th to 8th December in Hanover.
