In the freight forwarding industry and among customers, a. hartrodt is also known for top quality when it comes to qualifying junior staff. In mid-October, the family-owned business was once again recognized for its outstanding apprenticeship achievements – the Stuttgart Region Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) awarded a certificate to the branch in the Baden-Wuerttemberg state capital. Alexandra Friedl was honored at an IHK reception. She passed her final examination as a freight forwarding and logistics services specialist at the beginning of July with a grade of 1.3. The 21-year-old was taken on as an Air Freight Export Specialist at a. hartrodt in Stuttgart.
Almost every apprentice is offered a permanent position
"Alexandra is the first in the team to receive the IHK award," says a delighted Kyra Rattay, Air Freight Export Specialist. She herself completed her apprenticeship at a. hartrodt more than three years ago, currently supervises apprentices in export and will qualify as an IHK trainer at the beginning of 2025. "At the Stuttgart site, almost every apprentice is offered a permanent position," emphasizes Annika Leukhardt, Team Leader Air Freight Export. Three new apprentices start every year, and there are currently four.
Personal responsibility and insights into every division
"With us, young people experience an intensive apprenticeship with a lot of freedom," Annika Leukhardt sums up, referring to her own apprenticeship more than 20 years ago. At an early stage, Alexandra Friedl was given responsibility and insights into every division with a focus on air freight. She likes the "cool" location directly at the airport and the "good atmosphere" in the team, which is more than two thirds female. "We laugh and work a lot", confirms Annika Leukhardt. In Stuttgart, air freight is loaded for the local automotive and engineering industries. In addition, a. hartrodt is currently expanding a sea freight division on site as part of a restructuring program.
Alexandra Friedl wants to develop her career together with a. hartrodt. In Stuttgart, she could complete a Bachelor's degree in parallel with her job, for example. In her private life, she would like to fly to Mauritius or the Dominican Republic.
