Expanding and moving forward – this is what Southeast Asia has stood for in the a. hartrodt Group for over four decades like no other region of the world. Nowhere else outside Europe does the family-owned business employ as many people as in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam with a total of 439 employees. The former Managing Partner, Andreas Wenzel, founded the first offices in Singapore and Malaysia in 1983. There, his son Felix Wenzel later managed the largest regional organization with 144 employees in seven offices, before changing to the Group Holding in Hamburg as Managing Partner.
"Friendly culture of cooperation"
"Cross-national synergies play a major role for us," says Kristian Sabitzki, Regional Managing Director Southeast Asia in Kuala Lumpur. According to him, joint development and the exchange of ideas are typical. He previously worked for a. hartrodt in Indonesia and has been in the region for a total of 14 years. In his view, it is characterized by young and dynamic teams as well as a "friendly culture of cooperation".
Air and sea freight hubs for goods from Europe
Hubs in the region play an important role for goods from Europe. Kuala Lumpur Airport serves as an airfreight hub for Australia, while the port of Singapore operates as an LCL hub for the region and Oceania. Kristian Sabitzki emphasizes a. hartrodt's in-house customs clearance: "In Indonesia or the Philippines, this is not a matter of course." Another special feature he mentions is the industry focus on oil & gas in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. He sees the greatest growth opportunities in the ongoing relocation of production capacities: "We actively support customers in their location selection and with customized logistics solutions."
Kristian Sabitzki intends to further expand in strategically important locations. There are concrete plans for Vietnam, where a. hartrodt will open a new office in Da Nang by the end of the year. In addition, the company is currently looking at the possibility of relocating its national headquarters in Ho Chi Minh City to larger premises.
