Flexible, fast sea freight exports from Germany to overseas have become a fine art due to global crises. This is where a. hartrodt can score points with its attractive Less than Container Load (LCL) product. For example, the transit time from Hamburg to Veracruz (Mexico) is 16 days or to Shanghai (China) 35 days. What many customers do not know: The Sea Service Center (SSC) in Hamburg ensures smooth processes at the interface between the Container Freight Station (CFS) and the carrier. "We organise several weekly consolidated containers for all general cargo shipments," says Laura Meyn, Manager SSC.

Container Freight Station is located close to the port

The SSC team works closely with operational colleagues from the international freight forwarder Zell & Mohr. The subsidiary of a. hartrodt operates a 1,500 square meter transshipment warehouse with adjacent storage facilities in the immediate vicinity of the Port of Hamburg. "Around 100 containers per week are stowed there," reports Laura Meyn. For the LCL services with a focus on South East/North East Asia, Oceania and Latin America, the general cargo shipments are consolidated and coordinated by the SSC.

Weekly LCL services from Hamburg

The truck pick-up from Germany, Austria and Switzerland to Hamburg is managed by a. hartrodt within 48 hours. "Thanks to the agile size, the team at the transshipment warehouse can act flexibly and unload quickly," says Marcel Cohrs, Seafreight Manager Germany at a. hartrodt in Hamburg. According to Laura Meyn, the SSC guarantees reliable service even "if the customer delivers the shipment one day later". At ocean carriers, a. hartrodt books contingents of consolidated containers at an early stage. This enables the sea freight forwarder to offer seven LCL services to Asia, Oceania and South America, some of which are direct services.

In the future, a. hartrodt wants to add further relations. "We are planning a direct connection to Vietnam," says Laura Meyn. For customers, this means faster transit times, as LCL services to Haiphong and Ho Chin Minh City currently are routed via the hub in Singapore.
