New Trade Lane Manager for Vietnam–Germany
With two native languages, Marcel Nguyen brings added value for a. hartrodt's customers.
In mid-June 2026, Marcel Nguyen moved to a. hartrodt logistics (Vietnam) in Ho Chi Minh City as Trade Lane Manager for Vietnam–Germany. This newly created position fulfils a dream for Nguyen, who was born in Baden-Württemberg (Germany) and has Vietnamese roots. After the end of the Vietnam war, his grandfather fled from the former Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City) to Germany with his 16 children. Marcel Nguyen grew up in the Black Forest with five siblings, what he considers as an added value for a. hartrodt’s customers: “I’m the only one in the team who grew up bilingual, speaking German and Vietnamese, and I’m familiar with both cultures.”
Five years of expertise built up at a. hartrodt
In August 2021, the qualified freight forwarding specialist joined a. hartrodt in Hamburg, where he completed a bachelor’s degree in transport management and logistics while working. Most recently, since April 2026, he has been visiting various air and sea freight locations in Germany as Trade Lane Manager: “Personal interaction with my colleagues on site was particularly important for me.” He also had meetings with customers.
Objective: Increase Vietnam's share of exports
“Trade between Vietnam and Germany is growing rapidly,” says Marcel Nguyen. According to him, in 2025, a. hartrodt logistics (Vietnam) handled 2,010 shipments between the two countries, “65 percent by air and 35 percent by sea.” This trade lane is one of a. hartrodt’s most important ones and is expected to grow by about 12 percent by 2027. Strong economic growth is providing a tailwind, with the World Bank forecasting 6.8 percent growth this year. International manufacturers are producing in the country, which has had a free trade agreement with the EU since 2020. The Trade Lane Manager sees growth potential in sectors such as electronics and green coffee, among others.
While Nguyen was one of the youngest employees at a. hartrodt in Germany, he is actually one of the oldest members of the 41-person team in Vietnam. He is inspired by the professional dedication and team spirit: “Friendships are formed here at work.”
