From 5 to 9 October 2019, the Anuga in Cologne will take place again. The world's leading trade fair for food and beverages is expecting around 7,400 exhibitors from 100 countries and around 165,000 trade visitors to attend its 100th anniversary. Experts from a. hartrodt will also be on the road in the exhibition halls to provide information on regular LCL reefer container services from Northern Europe to Asia. “Only very few forwarders regularly offer LCL reefer containers,” says Michaela Neubauer, Manager Sales Germany at a. hartrodt in Hamburg.

LCL is cheaper for a few pallets

The service is specially designed for wine, chocolate, pastries and other temperature-sensitive goods. In the reefer container, the ocean freight is constantly temperature-controlled between plus 15 and plus 18 degrees. “We have strong demand for the transport of French wines and the proportion of German wines is also rising steadily,” says Neubauer. Important notice: “With only a few pallets of refrigerated goods, our offer is significantly more cost-effective compared with FCL or air freight shipments that are not fully loaded”.

For all Northern European countries

“The customer should inform us at least 14 days in advance,” recommends Neubauer. The LCL reefer container is packed where most of the cargo comes from. “If we have a lot of German cargo, it's in Hamburg, otherwise in Le Havre,” explains the manager. Refrigerated trucks bring the cargo from all Northern European countries to the two ports. The transit time Hamburg-Le Havre, for example, is five days.

Once a month, a temperature-controlled LCL container is sent to Hong Kong. In the special administrative region in Southeastern China, a. hartrodt deconsolidates the goods in a temperature-controlled warehouse on the 14th floor. Pallet by pallet is brought to the warehouse by freight elevator, as there is traditionally a lack of space in Hong Kong. Despite current mass protests in the metropolis, the delivery of goods works "completely normally", assures Neubauer.

For further information, the sales team of a. hartrodt will arrange appointments at the Anuga from now on.
