Since January, a. hartrodt's Global Tracking Portal has offered even more extensive features and covers nearly all countries. "Customers can now track more than 90 percent of their air and sea freight shipments on real routes," says Yvonne Boldt-Mehl, IT Business Consultant at a. hartrodt in Hamburg. After launching the Global Tracking Portal as a pilot for airfreight shipments in May 2024, sea freight functions were first made available for Full Container Loads (FCL) in August and have now been completed for Less than Container Loads (LCL). "More than 300 users at 90 customers are already using our new service," reports the consultant.
CO2 Reporting: Optimizing supply chains sustainably
CO2 reporting offers considerable added value for the growing number of companies that are obliged to publish sustainability reports. The system automatically identifies the CO2 equivalent emissions of various greenhouse gases, which can be analyzed per transport route and means: "The customer can compare his shipments on different shipping routes or sea freight with airfreight in order to optimize his supply chains sustainably," says the expert.
ETA permanently updated by Machine Learning
The dashboard shows the permanently updated status of all relevant data – transshipments as well as rebooking by ocean carriers or airlines. "If you want, you can get a lot more details than before," says Yvonne Boldt-Mehl. When tracking sea freight, the system automatically calculates the Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA). "To do this, GPS data is enriched with information from various sources using Machine Learning,” she explains. The team Business Consulting in IT has received particularly positive feedback for the automated real-time updates that customers can receive by email when the ETA changes.
The Global Tracking Portal, which is optimized for mobile views, currently contains around 200,000 air and sea freight shipments. Later this year, a. hartrodt will also make documents such as packing lists and bills of lading available via the system.
